First Year Russian Transit Cadets “Satisfaction” Parody

These flight academy students decided to blow off steam before final exams, with this homoerotic parody of Benny Benazi’s “Satisfaction” video featuring skantily-clad female models in suggestive poses with power tools. Their version featured them all in thongs and bikini briefs and their uniform hats striking equally suggestive poses.

The video was not intended to be public but it got uploaded and instantly went viral, causing a national scandal with calls for harsh disciplinary measures, and condemnations comparing them to Pussy Riot. It was not lost on anyone that the comic homoeroticism mocked the prevailing Russian cultural oppression of gays and other nonconformists.

In response to the official condemnations, professional and trade school students all over Russia began uploading their own versions of the vid in a show of solidarity. Soon the videos popped up everywhere, with organizations of all stripes and people of all ages (even seniors at a sauna), joining in what had become a protest of mockery at the establishment. Young Russians it seems had let it be known they are not happy with the prevailing Russian social order.

After much public outcry, efforts to expel the students were dropped.
