It’s Gay Art Time

In 1918, every home with a piano had a collection of sheet music. Before the days of radio, the piano was a significant part of home entertainment. The sheet music was illuminated with decorative borders like this one. Illustrations were likewise stylized.

D’Eon enjoys taking decorative artwork forms of upper-middle-class respectability from the early 20th Century and mashing them up with depictions of graphic gay sex. In this way, he is inviting homosexuality into the parlor, on open display. I really like his work.
