As an update, this pic was flagged as adult content when I posted it. I find that mind boggling. I would like to think I’m so dead sexy that the mere sight of my chest makes the Tumblr censors think naughty thoughts and reach for their smelling salts. But it is becoming alarmingly clear, from the posts I’ve seen flagged here and elsewhere, that shirtless = “adult content” to Tumblr. I get that my jeans are low and I have pronounced cum gutters. But I’ve seen far more demure pics flagged as well. Ultimately, I think alot of folks who have blogs they thought were comfortably SFW will get nuked as well. I may try editing and reposting with less exposed skin, to see just how crazy this gets.
There doesn’t seem to be a consensus about where we NSFW refugees should land. The one that seems the most promising is http://cumblr.com, when and if it goes live. I can tell they wanted to be live before now so that users could seemlessly transfer their content and pick up where they left off. But that has not come to pass.
The other options all have disadvantages – the main one being limitations on content migration. Although Tumblr does have an export/backup tool which packs a zip file of all your stuff, I have been successful at downloading only one of my blogs, due to the size of the file. My internet provider has an unreliable signal and very slow transfer rate – the downloads crash, sometimes after several hours of processing. It has been frustrating.
My plan is to continue this blog as http://tripis2loud.home.blog using WordPress. WordPress is a bit complicated to set up, but it has a very user-friendly import tool, that is reported to bring over all your content. I am in the process of the import now. Fingers crossed. If it works, I’ll repeat the process for my other blogs. Then, if Cumblr.com comes through as a viable option, I can move there.
For the time being, these are my other blogs, which I hope to continue under the same or similar blog names on WordPress (gayluv1 is the only one that has a high likelihood of surviving the purge here, as it is pretty G rated):
